Chana Dal Tadka | Fry Recipe Dhaba Style at Home In English

Chana dal tempered naan prepared in Dhaba style, served with rice or chapati for lunch or dinner.

Ingredients for Chana Dal Fry Recipe Dhaba Style 

  • Chana dal - 1 cup (250 grams)
  • Tomato - 2 (200 grams)
  • Red chili - 2
  • Green chili - 2
  • Ghee - 2 tbsp
  • Cumin seeds - 1/2 tsp
  • Coriander - 1 to 3 teaspoon (finely chopped)
  • Asafoetida - 1 pinch
  • Turmeric Powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Coriander Powder - 1 tsp
  • Red chili powder - 1/4 tsp
  • Ginger paste - 1 tsp
  • Garam Masala - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Salt

How to make Chana Dal Tadka |Fry Recipe at Home in English?

Soak chana dal in water for 2-3 hours.

Step1:- Finely chop tomatoes. Remove the stems of the green Chillies and cut them in two. Remove the stem from the red chili as well.

Step2:- Add soaked gram lentils, 1.5 cups of water, salt, and more than half of turmeric powder in the cooker and keep the lentils cooked for 1 whistle. 

Step3:- After the whistle, reduce the flame and let the dal cook for 5 more minutes.

Step4:- After this, let the pressure of the cooker expire automatically. 

Prepare Spices For Chana Dal Tadka Recipe:-

Step1:- Keep the pan hot. Put 1 tablespoon of ghee in it and heat it. Add cumin seeds to the hot ghee. 

Step2:- After the cumin seeds crackle, add asafoetida, remaining turmeric powder, coriander powder, ginger paste, and fry all the spices lightly.

Step3:- Add green chili and red chili to the masala and fry it for a while. After this, add chopped tomatoes and red chili to the spices, mix well and cook till the tomatoes become soft.

Step4:- After the pressure of the cooker is over, remove the lentils from the cooker and add them to the spices and mix well. 

Step5:- Add about 1/2 cup of water and let it cook for 5 minutes. (You can add water to the lentils as thick or thin as possible.)

Step6:- Add garam masala and green coriander to the dal and mix it and let it cook on a low flame for 4-5 minutes. After 5 minutes, a very thick dal is ready, take out the lentils in a bowl.

Step7:- Garnish the gram and pulses rich in taste and health with a little ghee and green coriander and serve it with hot Naan, chapatti, or rice and enjoy it. Enough for 3-4 members.

Ingredients for Urad Dal Tadka Masala Recipe

  • Urad Dal - 1/2 cup (100 grams)
  • Tomato - 1 paste
  • Green chili - 1 paste
  • Ginger paste - ½ tsp
  • Ginger - ½ inch piece (finely chopped)
  • Coriander - 2-3 tbsp (finely chopped)
  • Curry leaves - 8-10
  • Cumin seeds - 1/2 tsp
  • Asafoetida - 1 pinch
  • Turmeric Powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Coriander Powder - 1 tsp
  • Garam Masala - less than 1/4 teaspoon
  • Red chili powder - 1/4 tsp
  • Whole Red Chili - 2
  • Cinnamon - 1/2 inch piece
  • Cardamom - 1
  • Cloves - 2
  • Black pepper - 10
  • Ghee - 2-3 tbsp

How to Make Urad Dal Fry |Tadka Recipe at Home English by Ginfo4u?

Clean and wash the urad dal Recipe.

Step1:- Wash and clean tomato green Chillies and put them in a mixer jar to make a paste.

Step2:- Peel the big cardamom and take out its seeds. Now coarsely grind these seeds, black pepper, and cloves.

Step3:- Put 1-2 tablespoons of ghee in the cooker and let it heat up. When the ghee is hot, add cumin seeds and fry it, add asafoetida, coarsely ground spices, turmeric powder, coriander powder, and curry leaves and fry the spices by mixing them well. 

Step4:- After this, add tomato green Chilli paste, ginger paste, and finely chopped ginger and fry until the ghee starts separating from the spices.

Step5:- When the ghee starts separating from the spices, add urad dal and fry the dal with the spices for 1 minute. Now add two cups of water and salt and mix. 

Step6:- Turn off the cooker. After one whistle in the cooker, reduce the flame, and let the urad dal cook for two minutes. Turn off the gas.

Step7:- When all the steam comes out from the cooker, then open the lid of the cooker. 

Step8:- Now add garam masala and finely chopped green coriander and mix. 

Step9:- The lentils are ready to be eaten but to make the lentils tastier, you can add another tempering on top of the lentils.

Step10:- Heat 2 teaspoons of ghee in a small pan, add 1/4 teaspoon cumin seeds and whole red Chillies in hot ghee, and fry it lightly. 

Garnish this tempering over the lentils and garnish it with green coriander. Delicious masala urad dal recipe is ready.
